Reflection: Ask, Seek, Knock.

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”

Matthew 7:7-8

HI Unknown Philosipher...

This particular quote has great meaning to me....i think it is the essence of changing everything around. When we are truly knocking (with our whole heart)..then things do start to move....In the Course in Miracles it states that when we want God without any ambivalence of any kind...then we will start to 'get him'...what are your thoughts on this quote? (I saw your profile on The Great Network) Thanks Leanne

Hi Leanne.

This quote has held great personal meaning for me too.

However, underlaying it I feel one must open their heart and be fully receptive of whatever it is they are asking. I find generally when things aren't going my way or i'm struggling to change the things around me I'm not happy with - it's generally because i'm not letting myself fully open up to it or blocking it in some way myself.

The underlaying concept I'm presenting above comes through in another very powerful passage in the New Testament, and that is Jesus' New Commandment:

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.
John 13:34

These I feel are the core of the New Testaments literal teachings - but the teachings seem to run much much deeper (ask, seek, knock :)

In Light, Love and Life.
